Brad Delson - The Lead Guitarist

The lead guitarist of the Linkin Park band Bradford Phillip Delson better known as Brad Delson (a.k.a Big Bad Brad) was born on December 1, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. Delson is also famed for his A&R role in Machine Shop Recordings.

His biography

Brad's bio reveals that he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in communications from University of California (UCLA), Los Angeles in 1994 and soon formed a band Xero with Mike Shinoda, which later on became Linkin Park. After his degree, Brad decided to give up law school in order to carry on with Linkin Park.

In his college, Delson was an intern with a member of the music industry to enhance his career in music. Here he had the opportunity to work with Jeff Blue, an A&R representative at Warner Bros. Records. Blue was the man who got Chester Bennington, the prevailing lead vocalist of Linkin Park.

Brad Delson started his career with a band named Pricks in 1994 and the instrument he played there was a trumpet. Later on he joined a band called Relative Degree, Rob Bourdon was his bandmate there. Moreover at UCLA he shared room with bandmate Dave Farrell, who also became a part of Linkin Park.

Although a great guitarist Delson has often been criticized for playing simple guitar parts and never performing solos. According to him he "doesn't like to show off " and that soloing is an act he would rarely like to perform. He reasons this basically to the nature of his band. Further he explains that his guitar playing sounds like strings or keyboard as he tries to adjust with the hip-hop and electronic sounds of the band.

Remarkable moments

In one of the Linkin Park's performances in summer of 2006, at the Summer Sonic Festival, which was hosted by Metallica, Brad Delson astonished his fans playing the heaviest riff, a new song called QWERTY, the band has ever written.
